VPI, Alta Audio, Luminous Audio and Capital Audiofest Join Forces For a Fabulous System Giveaway
One lucky audiophile to win a complete system worth over $12,000!
For Immediate Release
Rockville MD, June 7, 2016 – Gary Gill, the promoter and owner of the Capital Audiofest announced today an exciting promotion at the upcoming show. “We have had a tradition of giveaways at all of our previous shows, it’s always been a big crowd pleaser. After all who doesn’t like free stuff?” said Gill. “But in the past it has been components and accessories; this year we’ll be giving away an entire system! This is no lightweight system either, it consists of top notch components from VPI, Alta Audio and complete connection suite from Luminous Audio.”
The System:
Several months ago Mike Levy, CEO of Alta Audio sent a pair of their new Rhea speakers to Harry Weisfeld of VPI, to “play with” at the famous VPI House. “I got them and tried them with various electronics I had in the house. They sure sounded terrific, but when I connected them to the Limited Production VPI 299D integrated tube amp, something happened!” According to Harry: “There was magic! There was amazing detail, speed, control and an overall level of musicality that just blew us away. It was one of those rare combinations of components that just worked so well together.”
After numerous demos of the system and universally positive comments, the VPI and Alta folks decided to demonstrate the system at CAF. Then someone suggested that they promote the brands with a giveaway of the system.
The system will be on demo in Room 210 and includes the following components:
VPI 299D Limited Edition Integrated Tube Amplifier – An homage to a classic design from the 60s, it’s a joint collaboration between Harry Weisfeld and long time friend Steve Leung of VAS audio. The unit includes a phono stage, amplifier, and headphone amp. In the Ultralinear mode using the standard EL34 output tubes, the power is rated at 38 WPC. MSRP: $4000
Alta Audio Rhea Speaker system with stands – Introduced to great acclaim at RMAF 2015, the Rhea uses the same XTL transmission line bass and DampHard cabinet construction on the faceplate as their highly reviewed Celesta FRM-2 speakers. It does so at a far more attainable price and is housed in a beautiful Rosewood standard cabinet. The seven inch midrange/woofer blends smoothly and seamlessly into the five inch pure ribbon tweeter. MSRP: $4750 per pair.
VPI Scout Jr with Ortofon 2M red - The VPI Scout Jr. is a ready to use out of the box. A high-end entry-level turntable, complete with a pre-mounted Ortofon 2M Red cartridge. The new tonearm is 9 inches long with a Yoke type vertical bearing and damped turntable-like horizontal bearing, it’s the perfect solution to enjoying your music! The arm is damped in the horizontal plane and free in the vertical plane. This combination breaks up resonances and adds to the enjoyment of the sound. MSRP: $1600.00
Luminous Audio Connection Package - Renaissance speaker cables, Monarch II interconnects and the Power Lynx Ultra power cords. MSRP: $1800.00
Attendees who want to participate can get an entry form at Show Registration, which they will complete and drop off in Room 210 when they stop in and hear the system. The drawing will be held Sunday afternoon at Show Close, in the Atrium.
